As I've been noticing the last few months, more and more celebrities have started uploading videos on the site.
Now with "top" ranking officials tweeting & retweeting them out, you gotta ask are they trying to make this platform for the so called Hollywood A-Listers?
Tbh, I think it's extremely poor timing with the many various sandals, which have been happening the last couple of years especially with Hollywood coming to light.
Also, this kind of obvious manufactured hype...., well it never really ends well in the long run. However an example from Twitch, just goes to show that a organic involvement like with Drake recently. Defo works far better than a forced attempt to seem "cool".
Saves a lot of $ as well.

I know what you mean about celebtube and I agree that it's becoming a club with a velvet rope. It used to be a 'video sharing platform', remember that? I knew things were starting to go bad when they started promoting their preferred people and everyone else was subject to draconian rules. A trend that will continue until the only thing left is Cucknan O'Brien in a diaper while a black guy laughs at him.

It would make sense for them to push celebs. It is a known face for advertiser's to get behind

It would make sense for them to push celebs. It is a known face for advertiser's to get behind Right in theory yes, but do you happen to notice they are seemly bringing in celebs who are either mostly A.Over the hill(meaning they are in the downturn of their career, such as appearing in flop after flop films) B.Never will be's. C.Washed up talent, who done f all in years. Also whoever is being paid to just show up, rather than wanting to be there. Which is costing them more than YT are going to make. To sum up, YouTube got to the point by making home grown stars not by paying for them and they wonder why the company has never made a profit.

I haven't really seen any celebs. Most of the stuff I watch is gaming related and it's fairly celeb free. I wish they wouldn't keep pushing it though. YouTube became great by showcasing the power of any individual to create and share

YouTube became great by showcasing the power of any individual to create and share Jack Whitehall Will Smith Reese Witherspoon The Rock Verne Troyer Kevin Hart Now only The Rock, is really "hot" atm in terms of being current.

I don't like the idea of YouTube pushing "preferred content" at all. There is really no need. The viewers can decide for themselves what's hot and what's not. The interference is obviously money driven, not in the viewers or the independent creators interests. I would prefer to have a "random discovery" button for when you're bored and looking for something new.

It's all so damn safe... I grew up in an era where Newgrounds was the shit, they got their start with sensationalism and off colour humor and it was great! I just took a look at it and it's as milktoast as everything else now...
I miss the good ol' days where you could upload ANYTHING and it would be accepted as art.

Organic push is better, than a force feed push on some many levels.
Shame YouTube will have to learn the hard way, once they realise this P poor to invest on "stars".
