PhillyD has just dropped a bomb on his latest video, hes released a video reply service and is pushing their service as an alternative for creators. Take a look for yourselves its fairly early in the video.
He has not officially mentioned the Union (not that I've seen) but hes just launched an alternative platform on DAy1 of our strike and encouraged new crators to join the parntership program.
My suspicion is that Phil can't mention the union due to conflicts with business interests or other reasons but that he woudl support us. His actions certainly stick the boot in to YouTube

Yeah as much as that's true the case here is to gain market penetration with a free app. Aiming it at 28% as opposed to 69% of users seems very counter-intuitive.
I just hope they don't take months to release the android version.

Drives me nuts. The only real reason for most stuff that starts like this is that the designer is an apple snob.
Seems the desktop version on the website seems buggy

AS Shown in the past, it hasn't stopped him before. Though the timing of this, would explain why he'd waited till now to mention this perhaps.

I'm guessing about that, I don't know anythign about his motivations. It is entirely plausable that it woudl represent a conflict with one of his sponsorship deals to be pushing people away from YouTube.

He's not pushing people away from YT, nor is Linus with his Floatplane. They are just following Neistat in creating a dev studio that will have some followers and will get purchased by a news outlet like CNN bought Beme.
It's a brilliant move and a final way out of the hustle. First it was merchendise, then online courses for passive income, now it's apps/studios that can be bought by big media who want an "in".
Beme was a great case study for that and I expect more to crop up.
If anything, we are at the cusp of fragmentation and going back to RSS-style apps that agglomerate from various sources (which is why Germany is pushing for a tax on web links!) along with microtransactions for access to video content.
