Right now all you can do is appeal, but you loose most of the revenue that you would normally get while the video is new. That's the reason why we started this union. Because right now there basically isn't anything that you can do about it. That needs to change!

I find it outrageous that they demonetize perfectly acceptable videos for the period it would earn 90% percent of its value... Once found benign, You would think that after they've admitted their system is garbage and the people who are running it are incompetent, You'd get reimbursed for the lost time, with interest and a letter of apology, right?
I think that should be added to the union charter, because right now it looks like a scam.

anything involving weapons, guns, is nearly a guaranteed demonetization.

Do they have that written in their community guidelines or is it a game of demonetization minesweeper? I can't believe companies don't want to advertise on channels like Iraqvereran888 or Taofledermaus... Or even Joerg's channel for that matter.

At the moment there is very little you can do no matter if your content fits in the rules or not.

Apparently if you win the appeal, from what I'm told you will get back all the earnings. Which is a system similar to how the copyright/ID process worked back in the day.
Though after 7+ months, it is undeniable that this new system is a failure.
As most of these videos that get "hit", end up in almost all cases get cleared.
Just makes you wonder, what was the actual real reason for this as no other company would do this unless they were purposely attempting to kill of their creators.

I've dropped it. My channel is political, so I get demonetized no matter what I post and have to appeal later (I've actually tested the theory). I'll be honest... I have a website. I actually had the website before the channel, but I started uploading right to my website. With that, I can actually run adsense on everything. It shows below the video, but the ad is always visible and doesn't break up the video. I can also include affiliate links if I want. I have also noticed that videos that get 50 views on YouTube are getting thousands of views on my website.

I think more and more people are going to try and create their own advertising options and alternate revenue streams and more as you see Youtube arbitrarily destroying the work of years of peoples lives.

before my channel lost monetization I had several videos deemed "not suitable for most advertisers" even though there was NO profanity, NO violence, NO copyrighted material--basically NOTHING that should have been flagged. examples of this are a video of my cat eating a treat and playing with a toy while I talk to her, a video of 2 fidget spinners spinning with no other sounds present, not even me speaking, and a few cooking videos I did which showed me doing it over an open flame. I have also had weather videos flagged with the same bogus reasoning. can someone tell me why a cat, or a fidget spinner, or weather can be regarded as offensive? I fully expect that one day I'll be hit with a copyright strike on content that is totally my own!
