Hey there everyone, I started YouTube on Christmas of 2009- Nearly ten years ago. I wasn't even in high school by that time. I've been working for years and years to make better content with my low budget and making the most out of whatever hardware and tech I have lying around. Videomaking is my passion and always has been.
Then February 28th this year, I got the biggest middle finger I could have imagined from YouTube.
I had been a partner since the YouTube Partner Program went up, and despite working at my channel for ten years, sometimes even working until 3 in the morning shooting and editing videos, my entire channel went from unlisted videos of snowballs getting randomly demonetized by bots to my partnership being entirely terminated, simply because I was too small of a channel. I was about to make my first $20 off of my video work after ten years of hard effort. Then YouTube spat in my face and tore up the fruits of all that hard work.
That is why I support the Union. You should not need to be a larger channel to be a partner on YouTube, or have to be huge to be paid for your hard work. You should get a commission based on your views on the site, as it was, no matter who you are- Any less is stepping on smaller channels that work just as hard as the bigger channels, but don't have a lot of budget to compete with conglomerates like VEVO.
