Hi, I published my last video last week, with the reason why in the description. One of my subscribers suggested I come here and make a post, with the hope that someone sees it and knows what to do, knows who to talk to, or has any other advice. I'm running out of hope, but here's what happened to my channel -
After 9 years, 130k subs, and 100 million views, last week YouTube took away my monetization and partnership due to "content reuse" which after a lot of back & forth and research, I found out to mean I dont "show my face" or "add commentary" to my videos. I have a niche channel, and the people who watch my channel aren't there to see faces or hear vlog rants. They want to see scenery, see trains, and hear the natural sounds.
I had made "my hobby my career" as YouTube was so apt to encourage me to do, and now I find myself with no livelihood since last week. Of course, I lost access to a partner manager, and the general YouTube help has done nothing to help me. From the best I can tell, the simple basic fact is that YouTube no longer wants my type of video in their partner program.
I dont understand why. I've developed a large, loyal following. I'm very active with my own channel and with lots of other channels. I'm one of the larger channels in my niche, and I've made a lot of money for YouTube over the years.
I dont understand why they no longer want the advertiser money from my videos. I was getting views, and getting people to come to YouTube to watch my videos.
Is the advertiser money different if I simply stand in front of my phone cam and rant for a few minutes, or show you what Im eating for lunch?
As long as I'm not violating the rules, and meeting the Partnership qualifications, why would you throw away my livelihood just because I dont talk in the majority of my videos? (oh, and someone else mentioned it could be because a lot of copycat followers now make very similar videos to mine at some of the same locations).
I just dont understand the reasoning or operating practices at YouTube. I've even had partner managers evaluate my channel before, and they found no problems, in fact they said I was doing well, and the only thing they suggested was adding cards or end screens.
Now I'm sitting here with no income, and no logical explanation about why the ad money I generate for YouTube is no good anymore. I'm really frustrated and disappointed in the way the whole company operates.
If anyone has any suggestions, please tell me! Thanks!
