I think that nothing short of a class-action suit against Youtube and/or a boycott will change anything. Youtube kept the money they promised to people, and got away with it.
[What happened to me: I live on a fixed income, below the poverty-line. I made some videos with people to share ideas and projects, but I needed lights and hard drives for videos, so I bought some, with the idea that youtube would eventually give me the aproximate $80. they said would. Then they demonetized my channel.
Also, they might have slandered me against Patreon, because my sight was flagged for something or another, but that's all cleared up.
I am buried so low in the rankings, that it seems intentional bury order was issued. I realize that I am only making geekie-project videos. I also understand my production value level, presentation, and appearance. And still, it's hard not to notice, that I had to go out and get most of the traffic I got. I also cannot help but notice that most channels comparable to mine in content and quality get more visitors.]
I have made dozens of hours of content. Proportionally, I get a lot of compliments. A few of projects were good enough to be featured on Hackaday.com www.youtube.com/channel/UCALWDnHfbhcpdPco0cXIeOQ/videos
I didn't start doing this for the money, but when you say you are going to pay people for their work, and then do not, there must be some legal compensation.]

Ive been thinking about a "pay tube " for a LONG time..... the idea is, make videos, to actually...get paid for your work ( your creativity, your skill your videos your insights on camera etc !!!!)
also, it would sponsor independent Filmmakers ...to make film projects and get real ability to make money from their movies, which would in turn fund them and they could make more independent film projects..
like per view 50 cents would be great. if a video gets 100 views, thats 50 dollars thats a really good deal and thats like a minimum, to get something done ! that would be great ! forget giving YOU TUBE any money, they are part of google, they have enough money. give them NOTHING the film maker should get paid !
you tube is great, but to get your video seen ? like in the thumbnails along side other videos ? why does that not work ? its a freakin joke. everyones videos should show up ! in the thumbnails on the right side along other larger videos, so everyone can have a voice. its very hard to build a channel so people actually see your videos, or projects, it is a scam, they favor only some channels and others are completely not visible to people. its by DESIGN.

My suggestion when arguing this matter in court is to argue that unfairly depriving a person of money is a violation of their right to life. People make a living earning money by whatever acceptable, legal means they can; as is their right. The right to work is a basic human right. The primary, core way in which humans live in the world is by making a living through division of labor and trade. Money is the distilled and most tangibly functional expression of that fact. Making money is indispensable to be able to live in the world. To impede your right to make money is to violate your right to life. The right to life is among the easiest to defend rights and the most robustly accepted right on Earth. I IMPLORE YOU, PLEASE GROUND YOUR ARGUMENTS DEFENDING VIDEO CREATOR'S RIGHTS IN THE RIGHT TO LIFE!
