As excited as I was to be apart of this YouTube Union movement, the fact that so many of you are from the alt-right community is a bit concerning to me.... From what I've seen, you think a channel like "Cody'sLab," a science based channel that in November 2017 got suspended for apparently "not" following community guidelines, leaving him unable to upload and potentially lose his channel with (at that time) 1.2 millions subs is equivalent to some alt-right YouTuber who went on a 20 minute rant about gender, muslims and beta-males and doesn't understand why YouTube won't allow him to monetize his videos. Honestly, at the end of the day I don't care what yr fucking political views are, if you wanna be a red pilled virgin cuck go right ahead, the more people on board to finally get YouTube straightened out and help it become a more welcoming place for content creators, I'm all for it.... but god damn... y'all need some milk (not soy milk obviously cos it has estrogens or whatever even though that whole stupid idea has been proven false and phytoestrogens have literally nothing to do w/ estrogen, but I digress...)
and phytoestrogens have literally nothing to do w/ estrogen, but I digress...)
QUOTE FROM WIKIPEDIA
It is unclear if phytoestrogens have any effect on male sexuality, with conflicting results about the potential effects of isoflavones originating from soy. [...] Sperm count decline and increasing rate of testicular cancers in the West may be linked to a higher presence of isoflavone phytoestrogens in the diet [...] Furthermore there is some evidence that phytoestrogens may affect male fertility but "further investigation is needed before a firm conclusion can be drawn".
This thread seems to be missing the point. This Youtubers Union needs to not only be a bi-partisan effort but an a-partisan effort, i'll explain. If we want to get the clout to change Youtube we need as many creators and general users to come together on this one issue. This means we need people from the "Alt-Right" and people who are "SJW's" to work together on this. We also need people who aren't all that political in general, which is why I have hope for this group because the creator of this is someone who's content isn't very political. Everyone who is not breaking the law on Youtube benefits from this idea so every extreme should be allowed to participate as long as they can come together on this one particular point, restoring job security to the creator's of Youtube. Now this isn't to say they have to become friends of allies.., whatever, merely that the people who want to participate need to be able to agree that Youtube needs fixing. Everyone is free to argue elsewhere on the day's pet issues.
I agree whole heartedly in that sentiment, however I don't want the censorship seed to be planted in this union. Its spirit should be one of liberty and equality. The moment you favour or censor one person or group over the other because they are 'preferred', the cause is lost. Anyone who thinks otherwise is just another ideologue seeking control over others.
I believe that this movement should NOT have its own political agendas, however political censorship is one of the big problems on YouTube at the moment thus we must still defend political channels (regardless of ideology). Free speech should be one of the primary goals of the union. The viewers should decide if they want to watch those channels or not, as Joerg himself said “it’s not YouTube’s job” in reference to the political side of this.
Well, as long as things are legal I don't see any reason for YouTube to involve itself into politics. In my book everyone has the right to a personal opinion and may express it, within legal limits of course. Preferring any political stance isn't for YouTube. It is up to the public to decide, at least in a democracy.
At the same time I don't really see the need for any political discussion here. This is about our rights as creators and users.
The very thought that so many think we can't get along is the very reason we should try. As a conservative who works in Portland Oregon the could be capital of SJW/liberal I know first hand we can and do. We (Americans) use to be a central based country. It's like that Southpark episode "I'm a little bit country. You're a little rock'n'roll.". The problem we face is not equal race but equal idea. You are you based on your ideas because that's what makes you tick. Pigment in the skin does not think the brain does. All brains are grey there for we are all the same color.
This is why I have suggested someone in leadership make a statement to the effect we are not here to debate the social, political, and economic issues of our times we are here to ask youtube to stop taking a side and using bans and demonetization to enforce it. I don't want to wade into it too deep but anyone paying attention can see youtube gives people who speak from the left considerably more leniency than the right which is why the right showed up in force and quickly.
So let's decide that the only things that should be censored are that which is illegal. That way, this union doesn't need to argue over any lines, doesn't need to shut others up or compromise. There's what's lawful, and what's not lawful. That's that.
The subject of which brand of politics Youtube respects more, to me, is a side of the issue where I tend to sympathize with Youtube the most. Not because they have one leaning, or another, but because they have to present a site that is as innocuous as possible, on a global level. To try and walk a rice paper path of each counties politics, and avoiding legal pitfalls in each, respectively.
You really have to stop, and consider the fact that Youtube is global, and they're in contractual agreements with governments across the globe, that don't necessarily have the same laws that enshrine rights in remotely the same way as the US.
Trying to handle/navigate that emmisarial nightmare is not a task to be envied...
